This year it is again at the fantastic 1 kilometre long PF International Outdoor Circuit near Grantham. It requires teams of 4 drivers for the 100 lap endurance race, which includes pitstops and refueling in order to complete 100 kilometre event. These twin Honda engined karts go up to 70 mph and with slick tyres and with a bit of rain, things get very sideways. This is real karting, about getting the racing line, judging the apex right and getting the power down not too early or too late to have the momentum to overtake on the next corner or straight. It is much better and faster than the indoor karting we are used to usually.

For 2002 we need to return to our former glory and field a few strong teams, so if you can get 4 people together for a team, or want to join an existing team, get in touch with

The winning group from 2000 are shown below consisting of Phil Hayward / Matt Whate / Mr. Hayward (the younger) / Miss Smelt

Here is a review by the Alfa Romeo Owners Club of the 2000 event:

The 3rd annual running of the Ferodo InterMarque trophy took place on Sunday 17 September 2000 at the superb PF International Outdoor Circuit near Grantham. The 2000 event had been expanded to include 13 teams (4 drivers per team) in the format of a 100 Lap Endurance race with pitstop strategy and re-fuelling playing a key element to the race.

Clubs taking part included: Alfa Romeo Owners Club (3 teams), Porsche Enthusiasts Club (2), BMW Car Club (2), TVR Car Club (2), MG Car Club (1) Peugeot Sport Club (3) along with a number of "privateers" which took the total number of karts to 17!

After a 40 minute qualifying session it was one of the Peugeot teams who topped the grid, but during the race there was plenty of inter-club rivalry and opportunity to move up and down the leaderboard as race strategy came into play with 7 compulsory pit stops for driver changes and an obligatory re-fuelling stop!

Mid-way throught the race a light drizzle spiced up the proceedings and tested the drivers outdoor skills, which saw a number of incidents and spins, and some erratic lap times reflected these problems. A number of teams also suffered incidents, notably TVR who were forced to retire a kart (with an injured driver at the wheel!). To add to the drama, the impending dusk, made worse by a partial flood light failure, meant that the final driver stints were even more hazardous!

At the end of the race a transponder glitch saw the provisional result thrown into doubt as the Peugeot team lodged an appeal. After much consideration the race director re-instated the Peugeot kart (driven by Hayward/Whate/Hayward/Smelt) at the top of the results, which also gave them the Manufacturers Trophy by a single point from Alfa Romeo.

At the presentations Ferodo had once again supplied a nice range of additional prizes (mostly of Ferodo merchandise) which were awarded to the "Top 10" drivers with the fastest laps per team. The star driver of the event turned out to be Richard Peacock (TVR) with a time of 52.55secs which equates to a lap time of 44.70mph! The full results are stated below and as issued by "PF International".
